What do Workday consultants charge? The rate report.

Workday consultants on Turbin charge a median of $92 an hour. The median is the middle rate: half charge more, half less. The middle half charge between $75 and $120. This report shows the full picture behind that figure, with a free CSV download. It covers every module with enough consultants to report, plus experience, country and the typical engagement.

A rate figure is only as useful as what sits behind it. This report collects the hourly rates Workday consultants set for themselves on Turbin. It breaks them down by module (the part of Workday a consultant works in, such as Payroll), by years in Workday and by country.

Each section says what its figures include and what they leave out. The other rate guides draw on this report, and it sticks close to the numbers.

For what the numbers mean for a hire, read what a Workday consultant costs. For location and time zones, read the rates by country guide.

What do Workday consultants charge overall?

The median Workday consultant on Turbin charges $92 an hour. A quarter of consultants charge $75 or less, and a quarter charge $120 or more. The lowest-priced tenth charge $45 or less, and the top tenth $135 or more. These are hourly rates in US dollars, before any fee.

Group 10th 25th Median 75th 90th
All Workday consultants 19 countries, every module $45 $75 $92 $120 $135

USD per hour, before any fee. 10th, 25th, 75th and 90th are percentiles: a quarter of consultants charge the 25th-percentile rate or less.

The range is wide because Turbin's consultants are varied. They live in 19 countries and cover every Workday module. Some are in their first years in Workday, others in their second decade.

The sections below break the range down. That way you can compare a rate with similar consultants, not with everyone.

Which rates are included, and what they mean

The figures cover Workday consultants on Turbin who passed the admission review. Each figure is the hourly rate a consultant sets for themselves, in US dollars. That is the rate before Turbin's flat 20% fee. The client pays the fee on top, and the consultant gets their full rate.

These are the consultants' own rates, not agency bill rates. A staffing agency typically bills the same consultants at 40–100% more. So compare an agency quote with these figures only after asking what the consultant is paid.

The median is the middle rate: half of consultants charge more, half less. The tables also show percentiles. A percentile tells you what share of consultants charge that rate or less. So the 25th percentile is the rate that a quarter of consultants charge or less.

The 25th and 75th percentiles mark the middle half of rates. The 10th and 90th show where the low and high ends begin.

Any module, experience level or country with fewer than ten consultants is left out. A handful of rates can swing a median. For the same reason, a certified median appears only where at least ten consultants in the row hold a certification Turbin has checked.

A consultant who works in several modules appears in each of them, so the module rows overlap. US and Canadian payroll are reported together, and UK payroll has its own row.

"Certified" means the consultant holds a certification for that module, and Turbin has checked it. 66% of consultants hold at least one. The rest passed the same admission review without one.

All the figures were taken on one date, shown at the top of this page, and they will not be revised. A later edition will come out as a new report, not as an edit to this one.

What does each Workday module charge per hour?

32 Workday modules have enough consultants to report. Adaptive Planning has the highest median, at $125. Core HCM, Workday's main HR module, is the largest group on Turbin, with a median of $80.

Modules fall into families, such as HR and Financials. Looking at the typical rate across each family, Financials modules charge the most ($106). HCM modules charge the least ($84).

Rates in the large modules sit close together, and most of the spread is in the small ones. Every large module has a median between $80 and $125. Several smaller Financials modules sit near the top of the range, such as Expenses and FDM at $120.

Treat a small module's median as a rough guide. In the smallest rows, one or two consultants can move it.

USD per hour, before any fee. Certified median: the median rate of consultants who hold a certification for the module that Turbin has checked, shown where at least ten do. A consultant who works in several modules appears in each row.

How do rates change with years in Workday?

Rates rise with experience up to the 8 to 11 year band, then level off. The median is $80 under 5 years and $90 at 5 to 7 years. It is $108 at 8 to 11 years and $105 at 12 years and up. The median consultant on Turbin has 7 years in Workday.

Years in Workday Median
Under 5 years $80
5 to 7 years $90
8 to 11 years $108
12 years and up $105

USD per hour, before any fee.

The flattening at the top matters if you are budgeting for a senior hire. Past 8 to 11 years, more years do not buy a higher rate. Between two senior consultants, the module and the work explain more of the price gap than their years do.

How do rates differ by country?

Country makes the biggest difference of any breakdown in this report. Rates run from $100 in the United States to $35 in Argentina.

Consultants on Turbin are based in 19 countries. Those with enough consultants to report on their own are the United States (median $100), Canada ($90), India ($65), Mexico ($39), and Argentina ($35).

Country Median
United States $100
Canada $90
India $65
Mexico $39
Argentina $35

USD per hour, before any fee, by where the consultant is based. Countries with fewer than ten consultants are not shown.

What location means for a hire, such as time-zone overlap and local payroll and tax rules, is covered in the rates by country guide.

What does a typical engagement look like?

Across engagements run through Turbin, the median engagement is 15 hours a week for about 6 months. That counts active, finished and early-ended engagements alike.

Engagements still running are counted only up to the date of this report. So the typical engagement runs at least that long.

Part-time is the norm, not the exception. The median engagement is well under half a working week, and 72% of consultants take part-time work. Nearly all work remotely, and 17% are open to a permanent role.

The agency markup guide prices the median engagement three ways: through an agency, through Turbin and hiring directly.

How do you download and cite it?

The table of modules is a free CSV download: workday-consultant-rates-2026-10-02.csv. It has one row per module, with the 10th, 25th, median, 75th and 90th percentile rates in US dollars per hour. It also has the certified median, left blank where fewer than ten consultants in the module are certified.

Questions we get asked.

Because many consultants work in more than one module, and each one counts once in every module they work in. A consultant who works in Core HCM, Absence and Time Tracking appears in all three rows. That is why the Core HCM and Reporting rows together already add up to more than the whole network. To compare rates within a module, use its row. For the network as a whole, use the overall median of $92.

A module needs at least ten consultants before it gets its own row. A median built from five or six rates can swing with a single person. Grants, Capital Projects, Project Billing and PSA (Professional Services Automation) fall short of that in this edition. Consultants who work in them still count toward the overall figures. A later edition will add a module once enough consultants work in it.

They are the hourly rates consultants set for themselves on Turbin. It is the same figure a client sees before the first conversation. When a consultant is hired through Turbin, they get their full rate. The client pays that rate plus a flat 20%, shown as its own line on the invoice. The figures do not come from invoices, so they describe rates set, not hours billed. An agency quote for the same consultant would typically sit 40–100% higher, because it includes the agency's markup.
