Ask what a Workday consultant costs and the honest answer is a range, not a number. The 10th percentile of the network sits at $45 an hour and the 90th at $135. Most of that spread comes from four things you can see before you hire: the module, the consultant's years in Workday, whether they hold a certification, and where they are based. Compare inside those and the range narrows quickly.

What does a Workday consultant charge by module?
Every one of the 12 largest Workday modules on Turbin has a median between $80 and $100 an hour. Core HCM, the deepest pool on the network, sits at $80; Core Finance is the highest of the large pools at $100. Outside them, Adaptive Planning carries the highest median of any module, $125, though from a much smaller pool.

The middle half is the more useful column for budgeting. A quarter of the consultants in each module set a rate at or below its low end and a quarter at or above its high end, so a quote outside the range is not wrong, but it should come with a reason: unusual depth in the module, a certification the project needs, or a location that changes the economics.
What moves a rate up or down
The module moves a rate first. Financials modules carry a profile-weighted median of $106 against $84 across HCM, and Adaptive Planning, the FP&A end of the product, sits highest of all at $125. Within HCM the spread is narrower: Core HCM, Absence and Time Tracking all sit at $80, while Talent and Performance reaches $95.
Years in Workday come next, but not without limit. Consultants with under five years set a median of $80, those with 5 to 7 years $90, and those with 8 to 11 years $108. Past that the curve flattens: consultants with 12 years and up set $105, slightly below the band before them. Rates rise through the 8 to 11 year band and then level off, so the most senior name on a shortlist is not necessarily the most expensive one.
A validated certification lifts the median in 16 of the 17 modules where at least ten consultants hold one, by $3 an hour in Adaptive Planning up to $33 in Compensation. Security is the exception: its certified consultants set $85 against $92 for the module. Treat a certification as something to check for the work in front of you, not as a price tier.
Location is the last big lever. US-based consultants (63% of the network) set a median of $100, Canada-based $90, and the lowest country median is $35 in Argentina. On-site days narrow the field more than they move the price: nearly every consultant works remotely, and 10% are open to on-site work.
What do you pay on top of the rate?
On Turbin you pay the consultant's rate plus a flat 20%, shown as its own line on the invoice, so a consultant at the network median of $92 bills at $110. The fee is paid by the client on top of the rate and never deducted from it: the consultant receives their full rate.

What does a typical Workday engagement cost in total?
Most Workday engagements are part-time and run for months, so the total depends on hours as much as rate. Across engagements run through Turbin to date, the median is 15 hours a week for about 6 months, and 72% of consultants take part-time work.
Priced at each module's median rate with Turbin's flat 20% included, three months of post-go-live Core HCM stabilization at 20 hours a week comes to about $25k. Two new vendor integrations over four months at 15 hours a week, at the Integrations median of $80, is about $25k. A six-month Adaptive Planning model rebuild at 30 hours a week, at $125, is about $117k: the clearest example of how far the module moves a budget.
There is no minimum engagement and no early-termination fee: 30 days' written notice ends one, and you pay for the work performed. If the first week is not billing-quality, the consultant is replaced within 72 hours at no charge. On Turbin the median is 48 hours from request to hire, and a request that names the module, the hours and the shape of the work gets a sharper shortlist than "Workday consultant".
